McHbtJkt1var.JPG (56371 bytes) 2USU-16. Light olive-green HBT jacket, with blackened metal buttons that are embossed, “U.S. Marine Corps;” The blackened finish is worn on the highlights of the lettering and around the edges of the buttons, approximately 90% of the original finish still remains. There are six buttons down the front, with two aditional buttons under the collar; the interior has a wide gas flap that is secured by three buttons. The jacket exhibits one, left, upper chest pocket with flap and single button closure; this pocket is stenciled with, “USMC,” letters and has a really nice, early style, eagle, globe & anchor design; the original owners name is neatly stamped over the pocket, “F.S. The wide cuffs have a single button with two buttonhole adjustments. The jacket has been laundered and is overall moderately faded; the backside seems to be heavily faded from the sun. The jacket is not frayed or damaged and has no rips, tears, holes or repairs. There is no size tag present, however, this jacket might comfortably fit a size 38 to 40 chest with up to a size 36-inch waist. A very sound example. About Vg. $69.00 SOLD

Army Enlisted M-1939, OD Wool Serge, 4-Pocket Service Tunic With Engineer Amphibian Units & Amphibious Training Command Patch - Size 38 Long
4pktAmphibUnits.JPG (38728 bytes) 2USU-19. OD wool open neck tunic with brass buttons and shoulder epaulets. Two patch chest pockets with button flap closure. Two lower internally hung front pockets with button flap closure. Sewn cloth belt across backside, center vent extending from bottom of belt to hem. The interior is lined with tan cotton twill along the shoulders and down the front chest area; interior seams are trimmed with tan cotton twill material. The left shoulder bears a, fully embroidered, Engineer Amphibian Units patch; the patch is, somewhat crudely, hand sewn and an Amphibious Training Command patch is crudely, hand sewn on the left breast pocket. The Engineer Amphibian Units were located at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts, and consisted of four Brigades. The units were assigned the responsibility of transporting combat units to enemy shores in various types of landing craft, transporting and unloading supplies for combat units at the beachhead level, controlling the movement of supplies on the beachhead, as well as, moving supplies inland to supply dumps, and removing wounded and prisoners of war from the beachhead area. The 1st Engineer Amphibian brigade made landings in North Africa, Italy and Normandy on D-Day and then moved to the pacific Theater and made assault landings on Okinawa. The 2nd brigade participated in many assault landings in the Pacific Theatre of Operations and provided fire support from support landing craft vessels.
