USMC Enlisted Man Dress Blue Tunic – WW2 Version With No Exterior Pockets
McW2DressBlueTunic.JPG (40161 bytes)

1USU-1. Fine, dark Navy blue, Melton wool, hip length, tunic; flat sewn epaulets on each shoulder; stand up collar with two holes for screw back EGA insignia; seven gilt brass buttons down front and three small gilt button on each cuff. The design of the WW2 Marine dress blue tunic is unique, as it has no exterior pockets, (exterior pockets were introduced in 1947).  The tunic is piped with bright scarlet wool around the collar, the epaulets, down the front opening, on the bottom hem and cuff facings. Each sleeve bears, machine sewn, WW2 type corporal rank chevrons of two gold stripes heavily embroidered on scarlet wool background. The interior is half lined with black rayon like material; the sleeves are fully lined with the same material. There is one interior right breast pocket, which has a white cloth label with the size measurements and other numbers, and reads, “No. 3728, B 36, Col. 14-1/4, Coats 39;” the first four numbers are the ending of the mans service number, B 36 is the breast or chest size, Col. 14-1/4 is the collar size and coats refer to the overcoat size, (?). The owners name is hand written on the inside pocket lining. The front buttons retain only remnants of the original gilt finish, they are still very bright and exhibit very minor and insignificant age and tarnish. The finish on the small epaulet and cuff buttons is tarnished and has darkened to a copper-like color, (a normal occurrence from over polishing), from polishing and age; the cuff buttons are indented from normal use. The tunic exhibits extremely minor and insignificant signs of age and use; there is no mothing or soil. A very attractive jacket, which, as you might imagine, does not show up in this spectacular condition very often. A very small size. QUITE SCARCE. Excellent+. $149.00 SOLD

Army HBT, (Herringbone Twill), 2nd Pattern Jacket, Size 34-Regular
HBT2Pat2var.JPG (48408 bytes)

1USU-2. Dark olive-green HBT jacket with black metal, 13-star, Army buttons used throughout; the buttons retain 98% of their original black painted finish. There are six buttons down the front; two very large, expandable chest pockets with a square flap and a single button closure; adjustable cuffs with single button, as well as, two buttons under collar, at the back of neck, for attaching a hood. The interior has a wide gas flap that is secured by three buttons. There is a white cloth size tag “34R” sewn inside collar area. The white cloth specification tag inside the right chest pocket is there, but completely unreadable, due to laundering. The jacket has been washed and is lightly faded, but not enough to seriously wash out the original color. The second image shows a green spot on the back of the shirt; this is some kind of a pixel problem and not actually on the shirt; one of the images also shows a long thin soiled spot on the right pocket. The jacket shows very light signs of age and insignificant wear, as well as minor and insignificant soil other that the one soil spot ion the  right pocket. No rips, tears, holes, repairs or other damage; it does not appear to have been used very much. Size 34-Regular, however, it will fit at least one to two sizes larger, if you have a slim waist. A very sound example. Vg+. $60.00

Smooth leather adjustable top with two blackened brass buckles on each boot; original brown cotton laces; the, full, black rubber soles are marked, “New Jersey Rubber Co;” black rubber heals; bear the letters, “N A S H B.” The upper leather retains its original brown color, it has not been oiled or otherwise preserved; the leather exhibits light signs of age, no significant wear with light surface cracks, which is consistent and normal for boots that have seen light to moderate use. The buckles are in near excellent condition and each buckle still retains at least 95%, or more, of its original blackened finish; the backside of the buckles are stamped, “Rau F. Co, Prov. R.I.” The lower leather exhibits moderate signs of age, minor wear, as well as minor surface soil from years of storage. The leather retains some of its original suede appearance, the leather is not oil soaked but may have been “daubed” a very long time ago; the leather is not dry and not disfigured or out of shape. The full sole exhibits very light and insignificant signs of wear; the soles are not dry or cracked and are completely serviceable. The rubber heals exhibit light to moderate signs of even wear. The interior exhibits light to moderate signs of use and are dusty from storage and the inside of the sole is stamped with the boot size bit it is not completely legible. A really nice looking pair of boots that can actually be worn, this pair has many more years left in them. Difficult to find. Vg+ or better overall condition. $125.00 SOLD

The collar exhibits, enlisted, U.S. & Infantry brass collar disks, as well as, one, sterling silver, 51st Armored Infantry Regiment, 4th Armored Division DI, (distinctive insignia). This is a very attractive jacket; the theatre made insignia and the historical units make it a very worthy collectible. The jacket could use a dry cleaning as it just came out of an attic. Overall about Vg. $199.00 SOLD

There is one small hole just below the back center belt loop, another, smaller, moth hole just adjacent to it, and another, smaller, one the right side waistband  (nothing serious, couldn’t find any more). Ike Jacket, Armored Force Patch with “Trust” Tab & Other Theatre Made Insignia – Size 34R
IkeArmorForceTrust.JPG (47966 bytes)

1USU-PC9. Waist length OD wool serge jacket; buttoned epaulets on each shoulder; open collar with lapels; five hidden button front with provision to close the collar, at the neck, with an aditional button and tab under the collar. The jacket has two front pleated and expandable breast pockets with scalloped flap and hidden button closure; tapered cuffs with double button closure an integral waistband with button and snap closure and adjustable take up tabs with buckles on each side. The interior and sleeves are lined with dark olive colored cotton twill material. Two interior breast pockets; the left interior breast pocket has a cloth specification label that is lightly printed and worn, it’s only partially legible, “Jacket, Field, Wool, O.D. Stock No., 53-J-384-550, 34R, Newell Clothing Co., P.O. No. 1334, Dated March 7, 1946, Pattern Dated 5/10/44; other words and numbers are unreadable. There is a white size tag at the neck, “34R, ” as well as a large white label instructing fitting and use of the jacket. This specimen bears an Armored Force patch with “Trust” Tab, (the tab is possibly theatre made), on the left sleeve. Each sleeve bears a Private First Class rank chevron consisting of one silver gray stripe on dark blue twill; all of the cloth insignia is hand -sewn with fancy cross-stitching. The collar bears the very unusual configuration of, two, German made, slightly vaulted, brass, clutch back, enlisted U.S. collar disks; the lower lapel bears, two, German made, slightly vaulted, brass, clutch back, enlisted Tank (Armored) disks, (the disks are two-piece, clutch back construction). The exterior left breast has a, clutch back, theatre made ribbon bar consisting of four incased in a Plexiglas covered metal frame; the ribbons are as follows: Army good conduct; European Campaign; WW2 Victory and Occupation. Pinned to the left pocket flap is a Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, with the following five Qualification Bars: Sharpshooter; Rifle; Machine Gun; 30 Calibre and Pistol. The backside of the badge, as well as, four of the qualification bars are unmarked, the backside of the Rifle bar is embossed, “sterling.” Taking into consideration the crude lettering and the incorrect spelling of, “30 Calibre,” I am confident, in my assumption, that all of the bars, except the Rifle bar and the Sharpshooter badge, are theatre made. The Sharpshooter badge has a horizontal attaching pin with a roller catch. The badge and bars exhibit heavy age and tarnish. The right exterior breast bears a standard, “Ruptured Duck,” patch. Overall the jacket exhibits extremely light age and very minor signs of use, no obvious soil, no mothing, other damage or detractions. An attractive jacket with some very unique theatre made insignia. Vg+. $189.00 SOLD

M41 Jacket, “The Parsons Jacket” Unused Condition, With Cutter Tags - Size 36-Regular
M41JktOrig1var.JPG (50805 bytes) 1USU-10. A lightweight, light olive (khaki) colored, cotton poplin jacket, sometimes referred to as a "Parsons Jacket," because of the role played by Major General J. K. Parsons in its development and design. Button epaulets on shoulders, open slash side pockets that are lined with a lightweight tan material; The pockets are clean and free of debris; the left pocket has a, complete, and fully readable specification tag, which reads as follows: “Jacket, Field O.D. Breslee Co., Inc, Cont. W-699-qm-19079, Dated May 29, 1942, Stock N0. 55-J-220, 36r, Q.M.Tent. Spec, P.M.D. No. 20B, Dated 3/17/42, Phila. Q.M. Depot.” Front of the jacket has a silver colored metal “Talon” zipper, as well as five buttons; there is an aditional button and tab closure, at the neck, to secure the collar during inclement weather. There is a three button adjustable tab on each side at the bottom hem and a two button adjustable tab at each sleeve cuff. All olive colored buttons are intact and original to the jacket. Long gussets on each side, on the back, extend vertically from the waist to the edge of each shoulder for added comfort and ease of movement. There is a permanent belt panel sewn across back at waist level. The Interior of the jacket, including the sleeves, is lined with a lightweight OD wool material; there are several moth holes and some areas of moth tracking to the surface of the wool, which are spread throughout the lining; there is one moderate hole in the lining near the upper right corner of the size tag, (nothing severe or seriously detracting). A cloth hang-up loop is sewn on the inside center collar area and a white cloth size tag is sewn, on the lining, at the inside neck area. This specimen is in, Unused Condition; it has four, original, gray paper cutter tags still attached to the exterior of the jacket; the cutter tag staples have a blued finish and are not rusted. The jacket has no signs of use or wear; it has extremely light and insignificant signs of soil on the collar, which was apparently exposed during years of storage, this soil is not noticeable at a casual glance, one would have to actually open the collar and look for it. There are also some very tiny and insignificant spots, maybe moisture spots, which the fabric has picked up over the years; again, you have to look very closely to find them. These very minor conditions are not detracting or damaging in any way. Original M41 jackets are almost impossible to find; when they do materialize, they are invariably in very bad condition. This is example is in beautiful unused condition; the nicest M41 jacket that we have had in many years; you will search a long time to find a better one; I know you won’t be disappointed. Very Rare in this condition. Unused. Near Mint. $325.00 SOLD
M41 Jacket, “The Parsons Jacket” U.S. Marine Corps Officer – Stenciled Back- Size 38-Regular
M41JktOrigMC.JPG (49168 bytes) 1USU-10a. A lightweight, light olive (khaki) colored, cotton poplin jacket, sometimes referred to as a "Parsons Jacket," because of the role played by Major General J. K. Parsons in its development and design. Button epaulets on shoulders, open slash side pockets that are lined with a medium weight tan material. The printing on the specification tag in the left pocket has deteriorated and only part of it is legible; the purchase order date of 3/17/42, as well as, other bits of words and numbers still can be seen. The front of the jacket has a brass “Conmar” zipper, as well as five buttons; there is an aditional button and tab closure, at the neck, to secure the collar during inclement weather. There is a three button adjustable tab on each side at the bottom hem and a two button adjustable tab at each sleeve cuff. All brown colored buttons are intact and original to the jacket. Long gussets on each side, on the back, extend vertically from the waist to the edge of each shoulder for added comfort and ease of movement. There is a permanent belt panel sewn across back at waist level. A very unique feature of this jacket is that it is stenciled for a U.S. Marine corps officer across the back, “LT. O.C.P. CAMP, O48991 USMC;” (I don’t have a clue what it stands for). The Marine Corps liked to stencil up their clothing and this officer did not miss the opportunity.  The Interior of the jacket, including the sleeves, is lined with a lightweight OD wool material, which is, overall, very lightly worn and pilled from light actual use. A cloth hang-up loop is sewn on the inside center collar area and a white cloth size tag is sewn on the lining, at the inside neck area. This specimen is in, excellent+ used condition. The jacket exhibits light and insignificant signs of age; very light signs of use, in the form of light soil where one would expect to find it, on the collar, at each cuff, as well as very light, overall, signs of, even, soil consistent with a jacket that has been lightly used. The soil is something that is not actually noticeable at a casual glance. These very minor conditions are not detracting or damaging in any way. Original M41 jackets are almost impossible to find; when they do materialize, they are invariably in very bad condition. This is a beautiful example that has been used very little and has been taken care of over the years. This uniquely marked M41 jacket is sure to enhance any collection; I'm sure you won’t be disappointed. Very Scarce. $275.00 SOLD

Enlisted Man's E.T.O. Trousers, British Made For The U.S. Army – Broad Arrow Marked, Dated 1944 – A Scarce Variation, Size 30 x 33

Heavy-weight OD, (medium mustard colored), wool serge, (whipcord), trousers; six, British plastic button fly with large gas flap; deep, vertical opening, side pockets, with British style watch pocket, which opens along the top edge of the waistband; two, open top, rear pockets with British plastic button closure. The interior is lined with khaki cotton twill and a short, wide, piece of gray/green wool. A British style, white cloth, specification tag is sewn onto the wool portion of the lining, it reads as follows: “Trousers, Enlisted Men, U.S.A. E.T.O., Specfn. No. U/1348, Size 30 x 33, Waist: 30 Inches, Leg 33 Inches, L. Coleman & Co. LTD> 1944, U.K. Con. 292/16/N/1210/10,” and it is stamped with the British Broad Arrow acceptance stamp, as well. One pocket lining is stamped with standard British War Department, Broad Arrow markings. The waist actually measures 28inches, the inseam actually measures 32-inches. There’s enough material at the cuff to lengthen the trousers about another 2-inches, maybe 1-1/2-inches extra material available at the waist. The trousers exhibit extremely light signs of age, no actual signs of wear; no signs of mothing or soil. The pants were issued as there is a U.S. Style ID number neatly applied to the inside waistband, “B-7835,” as well as other unidentifiable numbers. The British produced these trousers, as well as, other pieces of clothing and web gear for American GI’s, at the behest of the American government as an expedient method of supplying huge numbers of troops embarking to the ETO, (European Theatre of Operations). A scarce variation that would make a unique addition to any collection. Excellent. $95.00 SOLD
USMC Corporal Four Pocket Forest Green Service Tunic With Embroidered Felt III Marine Amphibious Corps Patch
Mc4PktTunic3AmfibCorp.JPG (38813 bytes) 1USU-12. Very nice quality, P1927, forest green wool, EM tunic with dark brown plastic, USMC logo, buttoned epaulets; open lapel collar with screw back, EM/NCO, blackened brass EGA, (eagle globe & anchor), insignia; two upper pleated patch pockets and two very large expandable lower pockets, all with scalloped flaps and dark brown plastic, USMC logo, buttons. There are four, large, dark brown plastic, USMC logo buttons down the front and wool belt loops at each side for wool waist belt, which is not present. Each sleeve has a deeply scalloped cuff machine sewn to the sleeve that is a traditional characteristic of Marine Corps uniforms. The left shoulder exhibits a beautifully embroidered, machine sewn, III Marine Amphibious Corps patch, depicting a gold colored dragon and the Roman numeral III, on red felt. Each sleeve bears a Corporal chevron and one service stripe signifying 4-years service; the chevrons and stripes are constructed of strips of forest green wool, which are machine sewn onto red felt. The right breast exhibits a, USMC type, gold on green, Ruptured Duck insignia. The interior has one left breast pocket that opens vertically along the edge where the lining is sewn to the tunic; the interior is fully lined with dark olive green cotton twill fabric; the sleeves are lined with a smooth, cream-colored, material; the interior of the left sleeve is ink stamped, “4M, college Hall Fashions, Contract Nom. 47938, Dated March 29, 1945. The Tunic is in excellent condition; it exhibits the most minor and insignificant signs of age and wear both inside and out; there is virtually no soil that I can find except for very minor soil on the interior of the sleeves. The cloth patches exhibit minor signs of age, insignificant wear and a little light from actual use. I have found only a few, small, moth bites and holes, they are spread throughout the tunic and are not actually noticeable at a casual glance; the most noticeable one is on the bottom center edge of the right breast pocket, otherwise they do not present any problem or detraction. The EGA collar insignia might be ever so slightly mismatched, the detail seems to match, but, one has much more wear to the blackened finish than the other. The III Amphibious Corps was established in April 1944, they fought through the islands of Guam, Peleliu, the Philippines and Okinawa; they suffered heavy losses, during bitter fighting against Japanese forces, under extreme conditions and adverse terrain. Following the surrender of Japan the III Marine Amphibious Corps was sent to North China and was redesignated, “Marine Forces China.” A very handsome tunic. Very small size. Excellent. $125.00 SOLD
U.S. GI M43 OD Field Jacket – Size 36R
m43jktJ1var.JPG (53251 bytes) 1USU-13. A hip length, tightly woven, OD cotton poplin jacket with buttoned epaulets on each shoulder; open collar with lapels; two expandable chest pockets and two very large lower pockets; each pocket has a large flap closure secured by one hidden button. Seven hidden buttons down front with storm flap at neck; two adjustable buttons at each cuff. (one cuff button is broken in half). The interior and sleeves are lined with a tightly woven, light colored, OD cotton poplin material and has a drawstring waist. This specimen has a completely intact and legible specification tag sewn into the lower right pocket; the tag reads, “Jackets, Field, M1943, Stock No. 55-J-191-40, 36R, Pattern B, Dated Feb., 1944, The Navytone Co., P.O. No. 9518, Dated Apr. 17, 1944, spec. P.Q.D. No 370-D, Phila. Q.M. Depot;” there is also a large white label sewn in the area of the neck, explaining wear and fit. The M43 jacket was tested by combat troops in the North Africa Campaign; combat soldiers gave praise to the jackets versatility, it was windproof and practically waterproof and they could, “fight a battle out of their pockets;” however, ETO command regarded the jacket as sloppy and unmilitary-like and resisted accepting the new style. This specimen is in beautiful condition; it has been lightly used it may have been worn a few times, under very clean conditions, it has minor and very insignificant soil on the collar at the back of the neck area; it never had any insignia applied; the material is shiny and like new. The jacket has never been laundered; it’s not faded and has no holes, rips or tears or obvious signs of wear. The original owners serial number, “S 9563,” is stamped above the large, “wear and fit,” label on the lining. Overall the jacket is about 98% of its new condition and is a very fine example of a M-1943 combat field jacket. The jacket is a size, “36R,” however, it will fit at least one to two sizes larger, if you have a slim waist. Scarce in this condition. Excellent. $150.00 SOLD

These trousers appear to have been laundered, however, the original OD color and some of the original shininess are still quite evident. 1USU-15. Light olive-green HBT jacket, (slightly longer than waist length), with blackened brass, 13-star, Army buttons used throughout; the black finish on the buttons is mostly worn off from use. There are seven buttons down the front, with an aditional button under the collar; two, false pleated, patch chest pockets with flap and single button closure and double button adjustable cuffs. The shoulders have a light gusset area, for comfort, on the backside. The bottom hem is fashioned as a waistband and has a, green finish, brass buckle and cloth tab adjustment on each side; the buckles are stamped, “Waterbury Buckle Co.” The white cloth specification tag inside the right chest pocket is completely missing. The jacket has been laundered and is, evenly, overall faded; it exhibits moderate age and wear, except for moderate to heavy wear on the collar, at the bottom edge of the cuffs and bottom hem, but they are not frayed or damaged. No rips, tears, holes, repairs or soil. There is no size tag present; these jackets were intended to be worn very baggy; this example is a large size and will fit up to a size 42, possibly a little larger if you have a slim waist, (up to about 36-inches). The owners serial number is lightly inked on the lower front front waist, "W9119;" another number, probably a laundry mark, is inked on the inside neck area, A very sound example.
