| M1917, 10-Pocket, Dismounted,
Cartridge Belt |
 |
2UW1-24. A Very nice example of the dismounted
M19187cartridge belt with 10- pockets. This example is
constructed of very light colored olive drab, (khaki), canvas belt and
canvas reinforced pockets with slightly lighter colored woven cotton web
pocket flaps. Blackened brass hardware used throughout; as well as, a
M1918 style “T” closure, (squared-off female opening). The belt has
10-eyelets along bottom edge for hanging equipment and lift-the-dot snap
closures, (this model cartridge belt was manufactured without interior
clip retaining straps). The belt also has a woven cotton web adjusting
strap on the backside, with brass belt tips and buckle adjusters. The
cotton webbing is in excellent condition; the color has not faded; there
is no wear, frays, holes or other damage. The front of the belt exhibits
moderate, even, soil, from storage, in the form of dust that has permeated
the canvas, darkening it down a bit, (some on the backside as well),
however, the soil does not present itself as an extremely serious
detraction. Overall, the blackened brass hardware on the front and on the
backside is in near excellent condition; the finish is tarnished and dark;
the metal exhibits only the slightest signs of dusty verdigris on a few of
the metal pieces, on each side, nothing serious. The buckle ends do not
show any wear, they retain approximately 95% of their original blackened
finish. The belt is ever so slightly mismatched; the pocket
flaps on one side are a slightly tighter weave and slightly darker than
the other side. The back of the right side is marked, “L.C.C. & Co.
Right 9-18,” and is numbered 13176. The back of the left side is marked,
“L.C.C. & Co. Left 10-18,” and is numbered 19600. The center
adjusting belt is marked, “L.C.C. & Co. 11-18.” A very nice
example. Does not appear to have been used. Vg+. $89.00

WW1 U.S. Tank Corps Shoulder Patch
|
|
|
2UW1-33. 2-3/4-inch wide x 2-1/2-inch high
triangle shaped patch. The yellow apex and red corner are machine
embroidered, (early type embroidery), onto a medium blue colored wool felt
backing; the blue corner is simply an unembroidered corner of the blue
backing. The patch is slightly out of shape; it exhibits moderate to heavy
signs of age, wear and soil. There are two deep moth bites on the blue
wool felt that don’t completely go through the fabric; there is one
small moth hole in the center of the patch where all the colors converge.
There are heavy thumbtack impressions on each pointed corner; the
impression on the blue wool felt corner has cut through the material. The
patch appears to have been removed from a uniform and tacked onto
something and remained there for a very long period of time. It’s
interesting to note that the red and blue colors are in reverse order, in
relation to later armor patches. Most of the brown spots in the
image are shadows from the scanner and are not actually on the patch. An
excellent representative example of an unusual variation of a very scarce
WW1Armor patch. Very difficult to obtain. RARE.
Good-. $55.00
