| Handbucher Der
Luftwaffe, (Luftwaffe Handbook), 1941 Edition |
 |
2GP-19. Genuine German wartime
publication for the new recruit in the service of the German Luftwaffe.
1941 edition, 5-7/8-inch wide x 7-5/8-inch high, pen & ink,
illustrated paper covers depicting a large Luftwaffe eagle and swastika,
a basic German airman in full uniform with rifle, with an aircraft in
the background. 296 pages of German text, many black & white photos
and illustrations relative to the basic recruit instruction for chain of
command, wearing the uniform, hygiene, bunk & locker specifications,
military bearing, manual of arms, map & compass reading,
marksmanship, etc., etc. This example has been heavily used; the front
and back covers are heavily aged, worn and soiled with brown foxing
spots, they have been re-attached to the spine, on the exterior, using
cellophane tape long ago; the corners of the covers and the pages are
heavily dog eared and chipped; the front cover has a small tear on the
top left side; all-in-all, the exterior of the book still makes a
reasonably acceptable presentation. The interior wartime, pulp-like,
pages have yellowed on the edges from age; some pages exhibit light
foxing and minor soil from handling and storage. The exterior would rate
about good, the interior about Vg. A nice representative example until,
or if, a better one comes along. SCARCE. $69.00

20-1/2 Years Old, Serving In An Infantry, Panzer-Jaeger, Regiment, and Died
In A French Prisoner of War Camp, On 11 August 1946 |
 |
2GP-20. Death Cards, more
sympathetically referred to, as “funeral mass/prayer cards,” were
available for the deceased’s family and friends who were in attendance
at the funeral. These cards were also sent to relatives and friends who
were unable to attend the services. The cards were cheaply printed on
wartime paper; the family chose the card to be used from various stock
illustrations and pre printed prayers; then the deceased’s photo image
and personal information was added to the card. This, double-sided,
double panel example has a small size photo illustration of Gefreiter
Paul Otto Stegbauer wearing his M-41 cap and a combat tunic; the
adjacent panel contains his personal information. The opposite side has
two panels with religious illustrations and prayers. The paper exhibits
light signs of age, minor wear and insignificant soil. The panels with
the religious illustrations are lightly yellowed, the photo side must
have been stored folded closed and is in excellent condition. An
interesting and unique example relating to a French Prisoner Of War
Camp. Vg+. $25.00 |
